Due to the rapidly-expanding popularity of the kustombike movement, and the resulting ever-wider audience, we at BikeRod&Kustom are becoming inundated with new businesses wishing to offer their goods and services to our readership. This has made a change in our advertising program necessary. As a result, we are adding a new section to future issues, which will replace some others. Our new section is called:

It's a separate page, linked from our Cover page in the same fashion as our other articles and features. It replaces our existing departments: OFF TOPIC and OFF THE RACK, which have covered commercial products relevant to the needs of kustom bike builders, and kustom-style frames and complete kustom-style bikes. It also replaces our former cover section to do with FRIENDS, PARTNERS, ETC- paid banner links to clients' commercial web sites.  In addition, it will also be open to services of interest to our readers, such as paint, upholstery, and machine-shop work, among others. We've concluded that having two types of commercial listings and links is counter-productive; therefore, this new page will be the only commercial content in BikeRod&Kustom, and it will all be content supplied and paid for by its clients. As it will consist of products of interest to our readers, they will come to it in the same way they go to every other part of an issue.

FORMAT: The format will be similar to our previous departments dealing with commercial content- sequential photos and accompanying text. However, in this case, the text will be furnished by the advertisers. We will apply our usual proofreading and copy-editing process to it, but we won't be writing it for you. Photos should meet the same standards as our other image content, in that they need to be of a size and quality to which our readers are accustomed to seeing in BR&K. We can reduce them to fit, but we can't enlarge them without loss of quality, so we recommend that image resolution and size be a minimum of 72 dpi @ 8.89 inches wide.  We also can't make fuzzy photos sharp, or retouch extraneous elements out of the background. We recommend that text length not exceed what you see in this paragraph, for effectiveness, but we're flexible. There is no minimum text length, but we recommend that there be enough information to let readers know what you're offering, its price, and where they may go to order it. We suggest that you also include some rationale as to why our readers would want it, but that's up to you.  If you don't have a website, you may use an E-mail address or Paypal link.

PRICING: A Display Listing consisting of one photo and accompanying text will be $100 for the run of one issue. Additional photos may be added to a listing at a cost of  $50 each, additional. These prices will be in effect through December 2005, and are subject to change following that period. A 2" X 1 1.4" Classified Panel Ad is $40 per issue.  A 2" X 1/2" Classified Banner Placement is $24 per issue.

DURATION OF LISTINGS: An issue will be in place for a minimum of four months, as per our current publication schedule. At the end of that period, the page contents will be erased; to be replaced by new listings in the new issue. Contents will not be archived.

STANDARDS AND PRACTICES: Listings must be of products or services of interest to our readers. We will not accept advertising listings to do with any other products or services.  If you have any questions as to whether your listing fits our standards, ask us first. Our readers don't come to BR&K to fulfill their needs for sexual-enhancement medications, porno sites, or low mortgage rates, to name a few obvious and annoying examples. While we aren't responsible for the accuracy of listings, our readers will be encouraged to report non-delivery of purchased goods within a reasonable amount of time. Listings of advertisers who fail to deliver in a timely manner, or at all, will be prominently indicated as questionable or to be avoided; but the listing will remain in place for the duration of the issue, with the warning notice removed upon resolution of conflict.  We need advertising revenues, of course, but we strongly recommend that you not advertise in BR&K unless you are able to deliver the goods or services in a timely manner. However, if you suddenly become swamped with orders making this impossible, we recommend that you inform us of this temporary situation as it occurs. We will be happy to add a temporary line to your listing recommending that readers hold off ordering until you inform us that you are once again able to deliver in timely fashion, at which time the notice will promptly be removed. Continuing to accept payment for goods or services when you are unable to actually deliver the goods for an extended period of time is unethical, when not illegal, and will not be tolerated by us, or our readers. Payment for advertising listings in BR&K is non-refundable, once your listing is in place.  So, we recommend that you think before you buy.

OTHER ADVERTISING SERVICES: The prices quoted above are based upon your supplying your own photos and text. If you feel that you are unable to accomplish this by yourself, we can supply advertising agency services for your listings, at an additional  price, as determined by  your needs. I have extensive background in advertising and public relations, having put in time at some of the world's largest and smallest advertising agencies. We can supply professional-quality photography, art, and advertising copy, and all related services. We can handle your advertising needs for both BR&K and any other publications you have in mind. We can also set you up with your own commercial website, if needed, as well as brochures, sales sheets, and other ancillary advertising media. We can even handle trade-show booth design and construction. Feel free to contact us for information regarding these services. But, since we don't make house calls outside New York City, we recommend that you locate these services in your own area.
