As far as the plate. I did "U CON DUIT " partly since the double down tubes and a good part of the frame from the boom up is conduit. . Also every little bit of trouble or time I was getting frustrated with it (Since this was a free build not going off of any plans) I would say "U Con Duit" over and over in my head. I'm going nutty as I get older! Lol! . The colour I just love Lime/fluorescent Green. The bike is actually 2 tone colour Chevy grabber green on bottom and fluorescent green up top. The handlebars were also done 2 tone. . Tribal graphics to go with the tires. I just didn't make them too big as I was not wanting to take to much away from the colour.
More photos of all these great bikes and their fine detailing are available to be seen at CBN, on the original thread to do with the results of this BUILD OFF.

For those who don't watch muy too much TV, a build-off is a competition in which various people build bikes in a specific amount of time. The winners probably feel that they could have done a better job in a less-restrictive amount of time and the losers feel the same way, only even more so. Sounds like fun, eh? . As the Spanish say: Hay nunca suficiente tiempo para hacer el trabajo correctamente; pero siempre suficiente tiempo para hacerlo de nuevo. (There is never enough time to do the job correctly; but always enough time to do it all over again.) . Whatever. I forget how the previous ones worked out, but there weren't as many finishers either time as this one. I guess that means that people are getting better at working with insufficient time to do the job. While I wouldn't dream of participating in one of these deals, I agreed to be a judge on this one, along with Marty Eden, and Dan, of iRide Customs. . The way we scored them was in three criteria: Concept, Form, and Execution. Each bike was given a score from 1-5, for each criterion. Judges' scores were compiled and the order of finish was based on the total score for each bike. Voting was very close. My point spread between first and last place was something like 3 or 4 points, and it was the same for the other judges. Below are the bikes, in order of finish, sort-of, along with their builder's comments. |

FIRST PLACE: "RADIUS" by Robert Lalonde My only inspiration for this bike was that it had to be wild looking! . I decided to name it "Radius" because of all the curves, points, fangs and spikes on the frame. . The edgy theme continues with the crank where you'll find four little devil horns and a real carbide tipped saw blade on the back sideno worries about getting oil on the pan leg from the chain, it just simply rips it off!!! . The color is a candy apple purple that lightens and darkens depending on the light. Black skulls can be seen peeking through the translucent purple and all the welds have been ground and smoothed out to make the bike look like it's all one piece. |

SECOND PLACE: "MAFIOSO" by Frank Russo We have named this bike "Mafioso" because of the colour, which we call "Mafia-Black" and also because the bike has a weapon bag and will also get a pair of front wheel axle-spinners, which will contain the ammunition of a revolver! Unfortunately the small bearings arrived too late to include these by the deadline for this Build Off but they will be fitted very soon. . Frame: This bike was built for my 9-year-old son therefore the frame is designed and sized for kids. The main tubes were bent using a hydraulic press and all the welds were ground smooth before the frame was sandblasted and then powder coated. . Wheels and Tyres: The front tyre is a Maxxis Hookworm 20x1.95" with a rear Innova Road Hog 20x3" mounted on transportation rims. |

Drive Train: Drive is supplied by a polished shaft drive, which also functions as the right dropout, in conjunction with a Shimano Nexus 7-speed hub and coaster brake. . Front End: The Front forks are built to an Old School 1970's design using fake chrome suspension, 2-piece handlebars and a chrome upper fork bridge. . Rear End: The fake suspension on the rear is made from hand lathed polished billet. The rear also features twin chrome exhausts. . Fenders: The rear fender is a bobbed Chrome Yamaha item and the front fender and bracket are polished stainless steel.
Other Features: The rear light is a 12-volt motorcycle cat eye, which has been converted to hold 3 LED's. The Sissybar and cushion are both hand-made with an Iron Cross cut from 10mm aluminium and polished. |

THIRD PLACE (Tie) "HELLBOUND" DJPartyboy "On Satan's day in the year of the King plus twenty centuries and five, the Devil will rise up and reclaim his chariot of pentagrams" . The above quote is a prophecy from the 16th Century mystic Nostradamus, who many believe foretold future events in a series of cryptic quotes. This quote and the fact that the deadline for the Build Off was the day before Halloween gave me the inspiration to build "HellBound". . The main design feature of the frame is obviously the Blood Red Pentagram which provides the central focal point, but the bike also features several more satanic and occult symbols such as the upside down crosses on the front fork tubes, the handlebar mounted human skull and devil's horns and several areas of webbing. The Saddle, Grips and Frame insert feature Hellish flames and the Sissy Bar is topped with another crucifix! |

The wheels are genuine early 80's metal mags mounted with flame tread tyres and are painted to match the flame in a Black sparkle base topped with a red sparkle top-coat to produce a finish that changes colour depending on light conditions. . Finally I produced a front chain guard design, which incorporated flames, the Devil's eye in a 666 symbol and the above prophecy, which started it all! |

THIRD PLACE (Tie) "BIG WEDNESDAY" Steve Bucko The inspiration for "Big Wednesday" comes from my admiration for the stripped down, bare-bones Black choppers built by Russell Mitchell at Exile Cycles, and the classic Woodie Surf Wagons.
Therefore this bike has nothing that is not essential to the purpose of going down the road and looking good.
The frame was designed to try and capture the classic curved lines of the 1940's and 50's Woodies but at the same time be as minimalist as possible. The wood inserts echo the Woodies of course, while the wave cut out is both decorative and functional, cutting down on the overall weight of the bike.
The name comes from the classic 1978 Surf Movie of the same name and seemed to fit the bike well as believe me this bike is Big! |

FOURTH PLACE: "IN THE BEGINNING" Xtreme420 I decided to name this bike "In the Beginning" since it is my first build. . My inspiration on building it? Well lets see, there is Marty, DJ, Elbucko,Suicycle, iRide, MadJack, BrianChopper, Mr. Cranky as well as pretty much every other guy/gal at CBN and BRK that has built a bike of imaginative creation. So my inspiration comes from all of you. . As far as the curves added in with the straight tubeswell I really like a lot of the curvy bikes that Marty has built and wanted to just mix the bike up a bit, I didn't give it much rake since this will be my son's first non shelf bought bike. I didn't want him crashing bad and never wanting to ride one of my creations again.
