This is Black Nashville I. This bike was built using a Dyno roadster. My goal was to give the bike a '30s look like the old Fords some of the first hot rodders used. I wanted big sweeping fenders but in relation to regular bike tires. The tank, fenders, and chain guard are fiberglass. Each part was first shaped out of foam. The fenders were especially challenging. A lot of worrying and guessing was done as to whether or not the tires would fit into the finished product. Fortunately they did.
I designed the guard to camouflage the long chain. It's hard to see in pictures but there is also a grill shaped into the front of the guard. The tank I put under the top tube to keep the look low. I added a 7-speed internal hub with a jockey shifter fashioned from a Martha Stewart cote hanger. I made whatever you call those things that sit on top of tanks out of glass also. The bike was painted plain black to stick to the '30s theme but I did clear the hell out of it to give it depth. I plan to adorn the bike with just the right pieces of chrome as I find them. A bullet shaped headlight is on my list also. I'm satisfied with end result what I think is an old, plain but stylish looking bike that's waiting to be customized. Imagine a classic flame job, maybe some ape hanger etc If you look close you can see a flat spot on the outside edge of the fender all the way around. |
