Above: Before and After
I call this bike The Silver Streak. When some friends and I pulled this late '70s Columbia coaster brake bike out of a stream near our school it was covered in multiple layers of gunk, rust, and paints. It took weeks to hand-sand. Originally, the plan was to modify the bike, chopper-style. But due to lack of resources I just ended up getting a longer fork off a 24" mountain bike. To cover two flanges (used for the brake) on the fork I used some 7.62 mm rifle shells. I also added 20" tires and handlebars from a different BMX bike. A seat cover was made, the bike was painted silver, I added skull valve caps and it was complete. Sean Daley |
